In the beginning Mihaela's idea was chosen and the crew was made up of me, Camilla, Ray and Sophie. It ended up being a great team with no drama between us we all left our egos at the door (I feel like this was the case, anyway).
Group work: Pre production
Concept art:
This was the first piece of concept art I made for the project, however it was before Jordan graced us with his godly talent.

These four are what happened after Jordan gave us his pearls of wisdom. They were incredibly helpful in learning the tech.
After these we did a mad jam session on designs for the facets of the production and I was given the tree. I did these after thinking about the nature of the tree relative to its creator and captive.
Mad jam for tree design:
Other miscellaneous stuff:
By the end we went with Mihaela's version.
Animatic work: first animatic
These were created when we all had to pitch a version for the film.
Parts of the ending were incorporated at the end.
Second go:
was given a section to do instead of the whole thing. We mish mashed all our sequences to make the final thing
Animation tests:
Keys and breakdowns by Ray. Inbetweens and colouring by Oscar
While a valiant effort to animate the dragon in 2D, making it a 3d model was probably a wise choice.
Keys and breakdowns by Oscar. Inbetweens and colouring by Ray.
While we liked the look of it, the disintegration of the tree became less of a plot point as time went on as we put focus on the characters.
Pipeline test:
me and Ray spent a whole Saturday session figuring out the dragon animation and how to mask it. We feel it was a good representation of our vision.
